About the role#
The Business Intelligence & Systems team is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to support the development and maintenance of data pipelines, integrations, and warehouse infrastructure. This role involves working directly with enterprise systems to build the foundation of a modern data platform. Interns will gain experience in SQL development, ETL/ELT design, and data modeling within a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to move data from source systems into the central data warehouse.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, and views using SQL Server.
- Support the design and implementation of star schema models and data marts for downstream consumption.
- Integrate enterprise systems such as ERP, MES, and CRM into the central data platform.
- Monitor pipeline health, identify failures, and resolve data issues in collaboration with team members.
- Document data sources, transformations, and schemas to support data governance and metric standardization.
- Use Jira for task management and Microsoft SharePoint for documentation and collaboration.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and window functions.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data warehousing fundamentals, and relational data modeling.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language, with a preference for Python.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint and Jira.
- Ability to work a consistent weekly schedule.
