About the role#
E2 Consulting Engineers is looking for a part-time Substation Design Engineer Intern to support electric utility projects. You will work under the direction of senior engineers and the Substation Engineering Manager to create design drawings and calculations. This role is based in San Diego and requires local candidates.
What you'll do#
- Develop physical or protection and control (P&C) substation design drawings and engineering calculations.
- Check your own work to ensure quality before submitting it for review.
- Coordinate project tasks with senior engineers and project managers.
- Track and update design activities using company or client information systems.
- Assist senior engineers during site meetings to help define project scope.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-approved bachelor’s program for Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office tools like Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- 1 to 3 years of related academic or project experience.
- An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred but not required.

- Location: San Diego, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and education.
- Status: Part-time, paid internship.
