About the role#
E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a part-time Substation Design Engineer Intern in San Diego to support electric utility client projects. This role involves working under the direction of senior engineers and the Substation Engineering Manager to create design drawings and engineering calculations. The position is on-site and requires local candidates.
What you'll do#
- Develop physical or protection and control (P&C) substation design drawings and engineering calculations.
- Perform self-checking tasks to ensure the quality of work before submission to reviewers.
- Coordinate project activities with senior engineers and project managers.
- Track and update design activities using client or company information systems.
- Assist senior engineers during job site meetings to gather scope of work requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-approved bachelor’s program for Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- One to three years of related academic or project experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred but not required.
