About the role#
This is a part-time, temporary research position based at Duke University. You will join an initiative to examine the history, impact, and development of global studies at the institution. Working alongside faculty leaders, you will help document the contributions of the humanities, arts, and social sciences to inform strategic academic conversations. This role is ideal for a student interested in higher education who enjoys turning complex information into clear insights.
What you'll do#
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on the development of global studies at Duke.
- Investigate the impact of faculty scholarship across global studies disciplines.
- Analyze graduate student training outcomes and their professional contributions.
- Examine undergraduate participation to identify educational and career impacts.
- Collect, organize, and interpret data from institutional sources.
- Create reports, narratives, visualizations, and summaries to convey research findings.
- Present outcomes and recommendations to the Global Priorities Committee and the Trinity Global Committee.
- Collaborate with faculty supervisors to support committee priorities.
What you'll need#
- Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience gathering, organizing, and synthesizing both qualitative and quantitative information.
- Ability to communicate findings clearly through written reports and presentations.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
- Proficiency with data analysis, research tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Interest in fields such as Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, History, or Communications.
