    About the role#

    This is a summer 2027 internship position for current or returning HNTB interns. You will work under the guidance of senior scientists to support infrastructure projects through scientific research, data collection, and field investigations. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with scientific studies, documentation, and project investigations.
    • Gather scientific data and set up test equipment using established methods.
    • Prepare data analysis, written reports, and maps using prescribed templates.
    • Assess potential environmental effects resulting from the construction or operation of transportation projects.
    • Maintain administrative project records, collections, and files.
    • Stay current with trends and literature in ecology and environmental science.
    • Support the team in producing project deliverables.

    What you'll need#

    • A Bachelor's degree in Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archeology, or Anthropology.
    • Ability to analyze and summarize data for reports, surveys, and environmental permits.
    • Capacity to research scientific articles to support documentation.
    • Experience or willingness to assist in field surveys to assess habitat characteristics.
    • Commitment to following safety procedures and best practices in the field.

    • This role is available in multiple locations including Austin, Baton Rouge, Dallas, Des Moines, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, Kansas City, Little Rock, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Overland Park, Plano, Round Rock, San Antonio, and St. Louis.
    • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
