    About the role#

    The Assistant International Student/Scholar Advisor II provides immigration advising and support to international students, faculty, staff, and employees at Duke University. This role focuses on ensuring federal compliance while providing guidance on visa and immigration matters. The position involves managing complex immigration functions, training junior staff, and serving as a primary resource for the university community.

    What you'll do#

    • Manage and coordinate immigration and visa-related functions for foreign students, faculty, staff, and employees.
    • Ensure maintenance of proper status, including processing tax classification forms, extensions, and work authorization requests.
    • Use the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Student & Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS) to process documentation.
    • Serve as a resource for the university, medical center, and health system regarding visa inquiries and problem resolution.
    • Maintain liaison with university departments, faculty, and outside sponsoring agencies.
    • Compile information and prepare reports on progress, trends, and recommendations for regulatory agencies.
    • Provide training and guidance to lower-level staff and assist with complex visa cases.

    What you'll need#

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.).
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in compliance, regulatory, or immigration-related work.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
    • Experience working with foreign nationals or living/studying abroad is preferred.

    • Employment Type: Full-time.
    • Compensation: Paid position with an anticipated annual base salary range of $48,960.00 to $77,928.00.
