About the role#
The Grid Services Vegetation & Natural Resource Intern position supports the Vegetation Management and Environmental Health and Safety teams. You will work on projects that help manage vegetation strategies and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. This internship is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Review work plan maps to identify and document potential environmentally sensitive interactions.
- Perform detailed desktop reviews using the Environmental Checklist.
- Conduct field assessments, protected bat roost surveys, and remote sensing field validations.
- Collaborate with the VM System Forester, VM Program Managers, and the Environmental and Natural Resource team.
- Review mapping data for quality and accuracy.
- Develop professional relationships and improve your technical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Natural Resources, Forestry, Wildlife Management, Fisheries, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- A graduation date no earlier than August 2027.
- A cumulative college GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Technical proficiency with computers and previous related work experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and meet project goals within deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making qualities.
Location & details#
- Locations include Lancaster, Anderson, and Spartanburg, South Carolina, as well as Salisbury, North Carolina.
- This role offers hybrid and on-site work opportunities.
- You may be required to travel to project sites, wear personal protective equipment, or meet security clearance requirements depending on the specific location.
- Some positions require a valid driver’s license.
