About the role#
Dubak Electrical Group is hiring an Electrical Design Intern for a 10-week summer program starting June 7, 2027. This full-time, paid position offers hands-on experience in the industrial electrical construction sector. You will work alongside experienced professionals to learn the design-build process, from schematic design through to fabrication and installation.
What you'll do#
- Draft one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and power plans using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Perform NEC calculations, including voltage drop, conduit fill, service loads, and feeder sizing.
- Model equipment, conduit, and cable trays in Revit to assist with BIM/VDC coordination and clash detection.
- Support low-voltage and structured cabling layouts, including rack elevations and IDF/MDF rooms.
- Prepare submittal packages and redline markups.
- Participate in drawing QA/QC reviews.
- Develop bills of material for prefabrication teams.
- Learn electrical design basics through structured mentorship and collaboration with project management and controls teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing with a minimum 3.2 GPA.
- Strong math aptitude and a basic understanding of circuit theory, including single-phase and three-phase power systems.
- Comfort working in Excel and a desire to learn the NEC.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to visit job sites and the fabrication shop in the Chicagoland area.
- Previous exposure to AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
