About the role#
This is a paid, 10-week internship for Summer 2027 based at our cement plant in Hagerstown, Maryland. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This role requires you to work on-site in a manufacturing environment where you will encounter moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions. You are responsible for your own transportation to the site, and some travel may be required for site tours or team events.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
- Support the troubleshooting and repair of electrical issues, such as motors and control systems.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans for electrical systems.
- Work with automation systems and control panels, including PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Help implement and monitor safety protocols to ensure compliance with standards.
- Apply your technical skills to daily operations and collaborate with our engineering team.
- Present your project contributions and learnings to the executive leadership team at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong academic performance and a solid grasp of engineering principles.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A proactive approach and the energy to tackle new challenges.
- Ability to work well in a team across different levels of the organization.
- Geographic flexibility to work at various sites.
- Willingness to spend significant time in the field to gain hands-on experience.
