About the role#
The Commercial Strategy Intern will join the Commercial Strategy Team at Dow Jones Energy. This role focuses on improving global data visibility, enhancing reporting frameworks, and supporting growth planning. You will work on hands-on analytical projects to turn complex commercial data into actionable insights and scalable processes. This position provides exposure to global commercial strategy and senior leadership while working within a live commercial environment.
What you'll do#
- Consolidate and structure commercial and customer data across regions and segments.
- Analyze the global book of business to identify growth opportunities, whitespace, cross-sell potential, and retention risk.
- Build dashboards and reporting tools to support strategic prioritization.
- Support segmentation and account planning initiatives.
- Map and evaluate current commercial reporting workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose process improvements.
- Support the development of standardized performance tracking frameworks.
- Identify opportunities to use AI tools to streamline reporting and analysis.
- Pilot automation solutions for recurring commercial insights and support documentation of AI-enabled best practices.
- Assist in preparing executive-ready strategy materials and translate complex datasets into clear recommendations.
- Support quarterly and annual commercial planning cycles.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year undergraduate degree program with at least 2 years of studies completed.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and July 2029.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to work with large, complex datasets.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, with experience in Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python considered a plus.
- A structured approach to work with sharp attention to detail.
- Genuine curiosity about AI and how automation can improve business processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- An interest in energy markets, B2B commercial strategy, or financial services.
- Must not require sponsorship for an employment visa.
