About the role#
Dominion Energy South Carolina is hiring students for an internship program within Operations Design. This program aims to develop students through hands-on experience in electric, gas, and power generation operations. Interns will gain practical knowledge to prepare for entry-level professional roles in the utility industry. Positions are available for Summer or Fall 2027 for approximately 12 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Plan and design electric transmission and distribution systems.
- Prepare detailed drawings and support design studies for electric and gas projects.
- Assist field operations with equipment and systems testing.
- Monitor the installation and operation of utility-scale projects.
- Review project schedules, budgets, and cost estimates while providing status reports.
- Support restoration efforts during storms or other power and gas outages.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate's degree program in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and GIS software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to live within a reasonable commuting distance of Cayce, SC.
- Physical ability to perform field work in challenging environments.
- Availability to travel and work outside of normal business hours across the service territory.
