About the role#
The Customer Billing Intern will support daily billing operations and reporting functions at Dominion Energy. You will gain hands-on experience with utility billing processes, customer account management, and data analysis. Working under the guidance of experienced team members, you will help ensure the accuracy and timeliness of billing cycles while contributing to operational projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with routine billing analyses and support day-to-day customer account activities.
- Monitor billing system controls to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
- Review billing cycles, audit billing data, and research routine billing issues, including bankruptcy account reviews.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports for leadership and operational teams.
- Monitor, analyze, verify, and reconcile reports from billing and metering systems.
- Process billing adjustments according to established policies.
- Identify billing discrepancies, assist with corrective actions, and escalate complex issues.
- Support documentation, process improvement initiatives, and special projects.
- Collaborate with internal business partners and provide support during critical business events, such as emergency storm response efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Economics, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- A graduation date of 2028 or later.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with data, spreadsheets, or reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn new systems, processes, and business concepts quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and follow established procedures.
