About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join our integrated design team to contribute to the design of mechanical systems for various building types. You will work alongside mechanical engineers and professionals from other disciplines to gain hands-on experience with the design process, from early concepts through construction administration. This is a full-time, paid internship running from May 18 through August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Work with a licensed engineer to design mechanical systems for new construction and building renovation projects.
- Attend design team meetings and observe how a multi-disciplinary team coordinates their work.
- Assist with the design and development of construction documents using Revit.
- Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion.
- Visit an active construction site.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year at an ABET-accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program.
- Status as a third-year student in an accredited engineering program.
- Experience or interest in BIM workflows, such as Autodesk Revit MEP.
- A passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.
- Interest in architectural building design.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This role is based in either Portland, Oregon, or Seattle, Washington.
- The internship is on-site and hybrid, following a four-day in-office model with flexibility on Fridays.
- Compensation is $20 to $26 per hour, depending on location, experience, and skills.
