About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will join our integrated design team to work on projects ranging in type, size, and complexity. You will gain hands-on experience by contributing to civil building systems from initial schematics through construction administration. This internship is part of our Emerging Professional Experience program, which includes mentorship, project work, and weekly learning sessions covering design culture, sustainability, and project management.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with architects and engineers within our integrated design process.
- Learn BIM tools and workflows, including document creation and coordination in Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Assist with concepts, calculations, modeling, drawing reviews, and project execution.
- Perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling using Autodesk Revit.
- Help write and review civil-related specifications.
- Assist the team with civil engineering calculations and code research.
- Accompany team members on site visits to observe project progress.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program.
- Preference for students entering their third year of an accredited engineering program.
- Experience with drafting programs such as Revit.
- Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively both individually and in a team.
- A desire to learn about the architecture and engineering design process.
- Interest in sustainable building design and low-impact site and landscape design.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 18 through August 6, 2027).
- Modality: On-site and hybrid. We follow a four-day in-office schedule with flexibility on Fridays.
- Status: Paid, full-time internship.
