    About the role#

    Detroit PBS is looking for a Production and Operations Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports our broadcast and digital video production through hands-on work. You will assist producers on local programs, including studio, field, and digital productions. This is an unpaid internship.

    What you'll do#

    • Serve as a production assistant during field, virtual, and studio shoots.
    • Write program descriptions and create transcripts, soundbites, and thumbnails.
    • Log footage and assist the producer with script notes.
    • Create program cutdowns for social media.
    • Review edits and provide notes to the production team.
    • Gather releases, capture behind-the-scenes content, and greet guests.
    • Participate in weekly meetings and brainstorming sessions.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment at a college or university, or graduation within the past 6 months.
    • Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week for 14 to 16 weeks.
    • Basic camera operation, lighting, and audio skills.
    • Basic non-linear editing and graphics creation experience.
    • Majors in Media Studies, Communications, or Journalism are preferred.

    Location & details#

    • This is a hybrid position based in Wixom, Michigan.
    • Work involves a mix of in-person, remote, and field production tasks.
    • Some night and weekend availability is required.
