About the role#
As a Process/Project Engineer Intern, you will work on the design and construction of food and beverage processing facilities. You will be involved in project stages from initial concepts to final commissioning. This role requires you to work alongside other disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams, to ensure operational efficiency for our clients.
What you'll do#
- Create process flow diagrams and mass and energy balances.
- Develop process design basis, operation specifications, and P&IDs.
- Size and specify process and utility equipment.
- Assist with equipment procurement, bid evaluation, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with project management on scope, budget, and schedule development.
- Oversee equipment installation and provide onsite construction start-up and commissioning support.
- Coordinate contractor schedules for equipment installation.
- Research engineering best practices and support internal talent growth.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status in a Bachelor’s degree program for Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
- Interest in food safety, sanitary design principles, and industry regulations.
- A motivated and results-oriented attitude.
- Familiarity with process flow diagrams and P&IDs is preferred.
- Previous experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or sanitary environments is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Springfield, Massachusetts.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Travel: This role requires 30-50% travel to project sites and other offices.
- Physical requirements: Ability to work at a desk for long periods and lift up to 15 pounds.
