About the role#
As an Architect Intern at Dennis Group, you will support our industrial architectural practice by designing and building food and beverage processing facilities. You will work on complex projects that require frequent interaction with project managers, process designers, and various engineering disciplines. This role covers all phases of architectural design and facility programming, from proposal development through construction administration.
What you'll do#
- Prepare programming and concept development documentation.
- Assist in establishing budgets, task schedules, and project work plans.
- Review agency analysis for codes, zoning, accessibility, and life-safety.
- Execute design and architectural detailing tasks.
- Produce schematics, design development, and construction documents.
- Make decisions and negotiate critical issues.
- Prepare presentation materials, such as renderings and drawings.
- Assist in document coordination and help improve office architectural standards and production tools.
- Prepare submittals for regulatory and permit approval.
- Develop code analysis sheets, perform quantity surveys, and prepare bid tabs.
- Perform construction administration duties, including RFIs, RFPs, change orders, and on-site observation.
- Maintain contact with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Participate in marketing efforts and presentations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior in a bachelor's degree program for Architecture. A master's degree in progress is a plus.
- A desire to work on commercial or industrial projects, with related experience being an advantage.
- Familiarity with building codes, specifications, and engineering systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Experience with Revit is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of all project phases, including construction documentation review.
- An understanding of the project management process.
- Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- A professional and collaborative work ethic.
- Ability to meet a travel requirement of at least 25% overnight travel per year to client facilities and construction sites.
