About the role#
The Livestock Center at Delaware Valley University seeks students to assist with the daily operations of the beef, swine, and sheep herds. This is a part-time position requiring 15 to 20 hours per week, including one or two weekends each month. The schedule is flexible to accommodate your class load.
What you'll do#
- Feed livestock twice daily.
- Clean and maintain the facility to keep it healthy and presentable.
- Help with herd health, including diagnosing and treating conditions across all three species.
- Manage livestock, handle animals, and operate farm equipment and heavy machinery.
- Perform general facility maintenance.
- Keep up landscape areas through mowing, trimming, and flower bed care.
- Complete other assigned tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Delaware Valley University.
- Authorization to work in the United States with valid documentation.
- While some farm or animal experience is helpful, it is not required.
- Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds or more.
- Comfort working in various conditions, including outdoor weather, high noise levels, dust, and exposure to animal specimens or waste.
