About the role#
This position supports the maintenance of fruit trees and vegetable plants on campus. You will produce crops for the Bucks County Opportunity Council, CHOP, the campus farm market, Terrain, and the dining hall. You will also support academic labs and volunteer events held in the fields.
What you'll do#
- Operate farm equipment and tools for production, field management, and facility upkeep.
- Scout fields to identify pests or issues affecting crop quality and yield.
- Perform routine maintenance on tractors and equipment, including minor field repairs.
- Communicate professionally with staff and other students.
- Report broken or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
- Assist other Agriculture departments during emergencies or special projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Delaware Valley University.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift bulky items weighing 20 lbs or more.
- Coordination to operate conventional farm equipment.
Location & details#
- Location: Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
- Work is on-site and part-time with a rolling term.
- This is an outdoor-heavy role that involves working in greenhouses, the machinery shop, and the horticulture building basement.
- You will face various conditions including heat, cold, dust, noise, and wet environments. You must wear appropriate clothing, including long pants and sturdy work boots. Safety gear such as glasses and gloves is provided.
