About the role#
As a student worker at the Equine Breeding Center, you will handle the daily care of horses and facility maintenance. You will work alongside other students and the Breeding Center Manager to ensure the horses have a safe, clean environment. This position involves a variety of shifts including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.
What you'll do#
- Perform stable chores such as cleaning stalls, feeding hay and grain, providing water, and turning horses in and out.
- Provide care for horses including blanketing, bathing, grooming, and administering medications or supplements as directed.
- Assist with the handling and management of horses for routine care, veterinary procedures, and breeding activities.
- Complete facility maintenance projects like scrubbing fences, painting, pulling weeds, and shoveling snow.
What you'll need#
- You must be a currently enrolled student at Delaware Valley University.
- You must have authorization to work in the United States.
- Previous horse experience is preferred.
- Completion of the Stable Management course is preferred.
- You should be able to lift 50 lbs or more and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
