About the role#
Equestrian Center staff members manage the daily care of horses and the upkeep of the facility. You will work alongside other student staff and the stable manager to maintain a safe environment for learning and working. This role requires availability across a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, holidays, and breaks.
What you'll do#
- Perform general stable chores like cleaning stalls, feeding hay and grain, providing water, and turning horses in and out.
- Provide supplemental horse care, including blanketing, bathing, grooming, administering supplements, and hand walking.
- Keep the facility clean, including restrooms, the mezzanine, feed rooms, turnout fields, and common grounds.
- Complete maintenance projects such as painting, weeding, shoveling snow, scrubbing fences, and removing cobwebs.
- Work in an environment that involves lifting at least 50 lbs, standing or walking for long periods, and outdoor exposure to weather and animal-related conditions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Delaware Valley University.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Previous horse experience is preferred.
- Completion of the Equine Practicum course is preferred.
- Ability to operate farm equipment like a small electric Gator or golf cart is preferred.
