About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Intern at Dashiell, you will join a project team to perform engineering and design duties under the supervision of senior staff. This role focuses on developing your technical knowledge through practical application of engineering principles. You will contribute to substation construction and design projects while learning corporate standards and software tools.
What you'll do#
- Create design documents, wiring diagrams from schematics, and bills of materials.
- Apply field mark-ups to project as-built drawings.
- Perform engineering support tasks including relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
- Learn and apply industry standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on experience in substation construction.
- Use document management systems and corporate standard engineering practices.
- Identify potential project problems and suggest solutions to the project team.
- Travel to project sites for short periods as required.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- A power focus and prior internship or work experience in the power field are preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals and three-phase power systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and demonstrate leadership.
- Proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
