About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern at Dashiell, you will join a project team to perform engineering and design duties. This role focuses on applying engineering principles under supervision to build your professional knowledge and skills. You will work on substation construction and design projects.
What you'll do#
- Create or modify civil and structural design documents and drawings.
- Perform engineering support tasks, including wind load calculations and structural analysis.
- Learn and apply engineering standards like NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI.
- Manage project documentation using the corporate document management system.
- Visit job sites to gain hands-on experience in substation construction.
- Identify potential project problems and suggest solutions to the team.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
- Travel out of town for short periods as needed for projects.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering at an accredited university.
- Knowledge of steel and concrete design and basic structural analysis.
- Proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate with co-workers, vendors, and clients.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A power focus and prior internship experience in the power field are preferred.
