About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Intern at Dashiell Corporation, you will join a project team to perform engineering and design tasks. You will work under the supervision of senior engineers to develop your technical knowledge and practical skills. This role involves both office-based design work and time spent at job sites to observe substation construction.
What you'll do#
- Create design documents and drawings, including wiring diagrams from schematics and bills of materials.
- Apply field mark-ups to project as-built drawings.
- Perform engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
- Complete engineering tasks like ground grid design, relay coordination, and transformer sizing.
- Learn and apply industry standards, including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Maintain project schedules and take responsibility for the accuracy of your work.
- Identify potential project problems and propose solutions to your supervisor.
- Travel for short periods as required by project needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- A focus on power systems and prior internship or work experience in the power field are preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals and three-phase power systems.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
