About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will join a project team to perform design and engineering tasks. You will work under direct supervision to build your technical knowledge and skills. This position requires travel for short periods and involves both office-based design work and site visits to gain hands-on experience in substation construction.
What you'll do#
- Create design documents, drawings, and bills of materials.
- Produce wiring diagrams from schematics and apply field mark-ups to as-built drawings.
- Perform engineering support tasks including relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
- Use engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, and transformer sizing.
- Apply industry standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Use document management systems and follow corporate engineering practices.
- Identify project-related problems and suggest potential solutions.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- A power focus and prior internship experience in the power field are preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals and three-phase power systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Leadership ability and the capacity to work well in a team.
- Proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
