About the role#
The Energy Data Analyst Intern helps Dairyland Power Cooperative make informed decisions by turning complex energy and business data into clear, useful reports. You will build models, dashboards, and visualizations to help the team understand performance and identify trends. This role supports our strategic priorities, including financial strength, innovation, and our safety culture.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and scorecards for financial, operational, and energy analysis.
- Create clear data visualizations that help both technical and nontechnical users understand performance drivers and business results.
- Build and maintain Power BI semantic models using STAR schema and dimensional modeling principles.
- Connect, clean, transform, and organize diverse datasets from multiple sources.
- Gather reporting requirements from staff and business partners to translate questions into analytical products.
- Validate reports and source data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Present your findings and completed dashboards to various audiences.
- Create documentation for data sources, business definitions, and report logic.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in data analytics, information systems, business analytics, data science, statistics, or a related field.
- Experience developing reports or dashboards in Microsoft Power BI.
- Foundational knowledge of relational data, data tables, and relationships.
- Ability to analyze data, recognize trends, and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
- This is a full-time internship with a rolling term.
- Compensation is $30.00 per hour.
