About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school learning into real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while supporting pharmacy teams in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all pharmacy workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service and contribute to positive patient experiences.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Flexibility for scheduling and business needs.
