About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you work alongside experienced pharmacy teams.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy operations to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory tasks such as cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive finger movements.
- One year of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Flexibility to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
