About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the guidance of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences to prepare for a future role as a pharmacist. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed by law.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members to contribute to a safe and inclusive culture.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
