About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide a firsthand look at pharmacy operations. This role focuses on preparing you for future pharmacist responsibilities by immersing you in store, district, and regional workflows.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols at all workstations.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed.
- Perform basic inventory activities, including medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Educate patients about vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and complete Technician Immunizer training.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to lift, scan, and bag items, and remain upright for extended periods.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations for prescription dispensing.
- Strong focus, attention to detail, and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
