About the role#
As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap to gain experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering care to our patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and follow all company standard operating procedures.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer immunizations and other services, and educate patients about vaccines.
- Counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse vaccination reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified and complete required training within a designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between duties, and confirm label accuracy.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, and perform repetitive finger movements.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs.
