About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role helps you gain experience in store, district, and regional operations as you prepare for a future Pharmacist position.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care during interactions.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and putting away deliveries.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
- Deliver patient health care services, including supporting immunizations, educating patients on vaccines, and monitoring for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- At least 1 year of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
