About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers pharmacy operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while supporting the daily needs of our pharmacy team and patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering empathy and care during interactions.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and putting away medication deliveries.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
