About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing an overview of store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy team operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols.
- Provide caring service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Field medical questions and collect patient medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Offer immunizations and other health services where allowed by law, including patient education and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as cycle counts and processing returns.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding privacy and controlled substances.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
