About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for future roles as a Pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations through hands-on experience and Key Learning Experiences.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately, safely, and promptly.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service and contribute to a safe, inclusive team culture.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify orders as allowed by state regulation.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Support immunization services by reviewing patient information, educating patients, and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
