About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you gain hands-on experience under the direction of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures at each workstation.
- Navigate pharmacy workflow procedures including production and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations in the market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
