About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future Pharmacist role. This position involves gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations while working under the direction of a preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients and demonstrate empathy in all interactions.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and company SOPs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical skills, and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
