About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to show you first-hand what it is like to be part of a pharmacy team. You will gain an overview of store, district, and regional operations while working under the direction of a preceptor to prepare for a future Pharmacist role.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly.
- Ensure patients receive their prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow all company standard operating procedures and workflow procedures at each workstation.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit information on a patient’s medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call them to clarify or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where permissible.
- Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other stores in the market as required.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within a designated timeframe.
- Strong attention to detail, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A customer service and team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds.

- Location: New Orleans, Louisiana.
- This is a part-time, on-site role.
- Employment is on a rolling basis.
