About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by supporting pharmacy teams and patient care initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and soliciting medical history information.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other pharmacy team members.
- Educate patients about vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and deliver health care services where allowed by law.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to concentrate on tasks for extended periods and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Proficiency in using math to solve prescription-related problems, such as calculating dosages or supplies.
- Skill in identifying challenging interactions and choosing appropriate solutions.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
