About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school studies to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and that patients receive their prescriptions safely and accurately.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences with empathy and care.
- Offer immunizations, point-of-care testing, and other services.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify orders.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts and returns-to-stocks.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Capacity to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between duties, and maintain accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to use math to solve problems involving tablet counts and days supply.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
