About the role#
This internship provides foreign-trained pharmacists the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in a retail setting. The goal is to build your knowledge and skills to prepare for US pharmacist licensure exams. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain licensure within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Greet customers and assist with questions or concerns.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage inventory.
- Deliver health care services such as point-of-care testing and immunizations where permitted.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy department.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in Mississippi.
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and emotional intelligence skills.
- Proficiency in time management and digital literacy.
- Results orientation and the ability to resolve conflicts.
- Capability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Eligibility to immunize and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are preferred.
