About the role#
As a foreign-trained pharmacist, you will complete your required US internship hours to prepare for full licensure. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain experience in retail pharmacy operations, patient care, and leadership. This role is designed to help you build the knowledge and skills necessary to pass required exams and transition into a pharmacist position. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain state licensure within 120 days of completing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while maintaining quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
- Process prescriptions, including SIG code translation, labeling, and product selection.
- Resolve third party rejections and manage pharmacy inventory.
- Counsel customers and provide health care services under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and identifying business opportunities.
- Lead with empathy and facilitate a team culture that focuses on patient outcomes.
- Adapt to changes in a community healthcare setting and drive performance goals.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in time management, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
- Digital literacy, with preference for Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Availability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
