About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours to prepare for a Pharmacist role. This program allows you to apply your pharmacy education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. You will follow a structured learning plan designed to develop your clinical knowledge, business acumen, and leadership skills. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow for safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide empathetic care to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Solve or escalate patient problems and offer to counsel on medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify medication details with prescribers.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Perform inventory tasks like putting away deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Administer immunizations and other health services where allowable, following Technician Immunizer training.
- Travel to different stores in the market as needed to support business operations.
What you'll need#
- Foreign graduate degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong mathematical reasoning and active listening skills.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between responsibilities, and confirm prescription accuracy.
- Ability to identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
