About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will apply your didactic learning into real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will follow a learning plan to develop your clinical skills, business acumen, and leadership abilities. You are expected to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and providing compassionate care.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts, returns, and stocking medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowed by law.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards.
- Complete additional training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule, including nights and weekends.
