About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to build upon your existing education and gain experience in a retail pharmacy setting. The program requires completion of all internship hours within 18 months, with the goal of preparing you for pharmacist licensure exams.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective pharmacy environment while delivering care to patients.
- Process prescriptions, including SIG code translation, drug labeling, and resolving third-party rejections.
- Manage inventory and perform register transactions as needed.
- Offer counseling to patients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Provide immunizations if eligible under state regulations.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and identifying business opportunities to drive growth.
- Adapt to changes in the healthcare setting and maintain a positive team culture.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- Must have passed the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
