About the role#
This position is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete required US internship hours and gain real-world experience. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a mixed modality learning plan. The goal is to prepare for pharmacist licensure while supporting pharmacy operations and patient care. Interns are required to complete their hours within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of finishing those hours.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams by following standard operating procedures and workflow protocols at every workstation.
- Fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts and returns to stock.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Travel to other stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
What you'll need#
- You must be a foreign graduate from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification is required.
- You must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, a valid intern or technician license.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong mathematical reasoning for tasks like calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between responsibilities, and ensure label accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and remain upright for extended periods.
