About the role#
The CNC Intern supports the manufacturing team by assisting with the production of precision-machined components for rugged computing products. You will gain hands-on experience with CNC machining, blueprint reading, and quality inspections while working under the guidance of experienced team members.
What you'll do#
- Assist with basic CNC machine operations under the direction of an experienced operator.
- Load and unload materials and completed parts.
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job specifications.
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
- Monitor parts for quality and report defects or concerns.
- Complete basic production documentation.
- Help maintain tooling, materials, and supplies in the machining area.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Participate in assigned department projects and training activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school, vocational, community college, or technical program related to CNC machining, industrial technology, or a similar field.
- Interest in CNC machining and manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- Dependability and a commitment to safe work practices.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, part-time position located in Hiawatha, Iowa, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 2nd shift.
- This role is paid.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. You may need to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
