About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will join our Early Talent Program in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to gain practical experience in transportation-specific accounting. This role involves working on projects that support our internal and external stakeholders and requires on-site attendance.
What you'll do#
- Assist with transactional accounting tasks for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Contribute to the month-end closing process and support enterprise-wide accounting initiatives.
- Gain experience with transportation-specific accounting topics, including ASC 842 lease implementation, insurance, and vehicle maintenance.
- Develop an understanding of account structures and profit and loss (P&L) reporting.
- Use the Spreadsheet Server for financial analysis and assist with McLeod ERP system deployment.
- Participate in status meetings and stand-up sessions.
- Present your project work and internship experience to senior leadership at the end of the summer.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
What you'll need#
- You are a junior-level student pursuing a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field at an accredited university.
- You must be enrolled in undergraduate courses for the fall semester following the summer internship.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, is necessary.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- You are a self-starter who can multi-task and take initiative on individual or group projects.
- Relevant work experience, internships, or participation in related activities is preferred.
