About the role#
Federal Way Audiology is looking for a 4th-year Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) extern for the 2027-2028 academic year. You will work in a private practice setting alongside experienced audiologists and support staff. This role offers hands-on experience with increasing independence as the year progresses, supported by ongoing mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Perform comprehensive audiologic evaluations.
- Conduct diagnostic vestibular testing, including VNG and balance assessments.
- Manage hearing aid evaluations, fittings, verification, and follow-up care.
- Handle hearing aid troubleshooting, programming, repairs, and patient counseling.
- Provide tinnitus evaluations and counseling.
- Perform cerumen management.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and provide patient counseling.
- Gain exposure to private practice operations, including insurance verification and documentation.
- Collaborate with referring physicians and other healthcare providers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program.
- Completion of all academic coursework before the externship begins.
- Strong clinical knowledge and clear communication skills.
- Professionalism, dependability, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A focus on delivering patient-centered care and a willingness to learn.
