About the role#
LJ Hart helps local governments, including school districts, cities, and counties, borrow money on a tax-exempt basis to fund capital facilities and equipment. We are looking for a motivated intern to join our investment banking team for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Clayton, Missouri office.
What you'll do#
- Interpret financial data to analyze past trends and project future debt possibilities.
- Develop multi-million dollar financing structures for General Obligation Bonds and Capital Facilities Lease issues.
- Provide expertise in cash flow analyses, new money financings, debt refinancing, and bonding capacity.
- Analyze current municipal debt structures and prepare financing proposals for public meetings.
- Manage financing documentation, maintain records, and organize files according to office protocol.
What you'll need#
- You are actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- You have intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- We prefer candidates with at least one year of related experience.
- You are a self-starter who is organized, motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Location & details#
- This internship is located in Clayton, Missouri.
- The term runs for 11 weeks, from May 18, 2027, to July 30, 2027.
- This is an on-site, full-time role with a Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- The pay rate is $20.00 per hour.
- Occasional travel within Missouri for board meetings is expected, roughly twice per month.
