About the role#
Commerce Bank offers a paid, full-time summer internship for students interested in commercial banking. This 11-week program runs from May 18, 2027, to July 30, 2027. You will work on-site, Monday through Friday, gaining experience through project work, networking events, and interactions with leadership.
What you'll do#
- Support relationship and portfolio managers with loan documentation, onboarding, and monitoring.
- Analyze the financial health of companies across different industries.
- Train on credit analysis, underwriting, loan structure, and cash flow.
- Rotate through local lines of business, including Commercial, Treasury, Trust, Retail, and Community Markets.
- Join loan committee meetings to observe the process for renewals and new requests.
- Attend networking and personal development sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior or Senior status in a bachelor’s degree program.
- Academic focus in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
- Basic understanding of banking, accounting, or finance principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational habits.
- Interest in sales and shadowing relationship managers.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Location & details#
This position is available in Springfield, Joplin, Bolivar, and Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The base pay is $20.00 per hour.
